Some have wondered what the meaning is behind "Death By Orange". Well, it originates from the fact that I'm a Clemson graduate. As a result, I own a lot of orange apparel. I mean an obnoxious amount! My friends might even accuse me of killing them with all my orange (i.e. Death by Orange).
However, "Death By Orange" has taken on an unexpected meaning this fall with the start of a new college football season. With a lot of preseason hype, Clemson was expected to have a dominating team. All the media agreed that they were loaded with talent. At a minimum, they would walk into the ACC Championship Game, and with a little luck, some felt like they could be playing for a National Championship (which we did in 1981). But 5 games into the season, we have proven that we are a pretender. I'm now the victim of "Death By Orange". This team (more specifically, this coaching staff) is killing me. Maybe next year's coach will resurrect a program that is all but six feet under.
